A mountain tour to Monte Generoso was planned for this day, but Hermann was not allowed to take part at this trip, which made him really disappointed as he was asking for a photo with him on the top of the mountain, if he had knew in advance how the day would develop he would have not asked in such an intense way.
In the rack-and-pinion railway from Capolago to the summit of Monte Generoso at an altitude of 1790m (5873ft) they went the way up in some fourty minutes. Only interrupted when in a tunnel a herd of goats had decided to use the railway also because it is the most comfortable way to get up there. The weather was fine until they arrived at the summit.
But soon after they have arrived on the top of the mountain there was just a minute to take a photo and soon clouds appeared and you could see nothing, no panorama - only clouds were to be seen.
Another thunder followed in the evening, of course.
Here you see the whole bunch of us: Lower right is Garnicht, just avove him Doch, the little ones in the upper left are Herman and Hermine and the big grey fluffy thiing on the lower right is, you may have guessed it: me.
Today our trip to Italy has started. It was a rather stressy day. I had comfortable back seat, but the others went to the trunk. Very thrilling to drive thru the Gotthard road tunnel, which is about 10 miles long. You drive and drive and drive...
We were targeted to a little town close to the Swiss-Italian border. In the town the first adventure was to find the road. Ok, Via Tossello number 18. It started with one and ended with sixteen. Where is number 18? Well, there is a narrow and steep path down here and some 100m downhill it actually was. Quite cool, especially when you use a SUV and not a lowered BMW. Anyway, we finally made it without any serious damage and saw a little house which was totally different than expected but quite nice. We were released that all
elephants had enough room.
